Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday visited Mykolaiv, a city in southern Ukraine that has been ravaged by the war.
The visit to Mykolaiv is Zelenskyy’s first to the city since the Russian invasion.
In a video address from the city, Zelenskyy hailed Brussels’ support for Ukraine becoming an EU member as a “historical achievement.”
The European Commission, as well as France, Italy and Germany, this week recommended granting Ukraine EU candidate status. The final decision rests with the European Council.
